UIUC Physics Demo # 440 . . . |
Sound Wave Interference (Side to Side) |
ID # 440 |
|
Description: A sound wave is produced by an amplifier and sent through two speakers. These speakers are set a distance apart (in this case one on either side of the lecture table). The two sound waves produce constructive and destructive interference patterns. Moving side to side (usually about 7 inches) in the lecture hall, a person can hear the nodes and antinodes of this interference as their ears pass through the different positions. This demo has two different setups.
